2020 Vision(s)

December 31, 2019

I tend to be a New Year’s Eve party pooper. Not a killjoy so much as someone who understands its hype little more than the lyrics to Auld Lang Syne (which is to say not at all). For me, the feeling of new beginnings come subtlety in Fall, not avalanched overnight come January 1st.

Something is different in the twilight of this decade, though.

Maybe it’s the year-end wrap-ups deluging any waking screen or the fact that I’m first emerging from a cold that’s committed every bed and couch lump to memory, but I’m convinced I was gifted with brief clairvoyance filled with good visions of things to come.

Whatever the cause -- fever dreams or delirious gratitude for restored health -- I’m sharing them with you hoping to connect, spark hope, and dream feverishly, together.

So here’s the T…

I chose 5 concrete goals/resolutions/visions to hone in on because 5 is my number and well, it just seems manageable, amirite?

Without further ado, here are my 2020 Visions From Me To You:

  1. Hear more stories from strangers
  2. Kill with kindness, even if it feels like it it’ll kill me first
  3. Honor the cry (remember you get a headache if you hold back)
  4. Note one good thing that comes from disappointment, if only in hindsight
  5. Reframe “fear” as “adventure” and embrace it

Happy 2020!
